Brahmin devotees of the Tamil deity Murugan

Dravidianists and Tamil nationalists keep perpetrating the falsehood that Tamil brahmins don't worship  Lord Murugan. According to them, brahmins go to Murugan temple but they worship the deity as Subrahmanya or Skanda, the "sankrit-vedic" God, not the "Tamil kadavul" Murugan. It is not very unusual for them to make these bombastic claims but what bothers me the most is many people do buy their narrative.

The narrative that tamil brahmins don't worship Murugan is so much against the facts that are staring at our face in our everyday life. One can see many Tamil brahmins saying "appane Muruga" like myself. One just need to have a keen sense of observation. That's all it takes.

Here are just a few examples that will prove the mischief mongers false.

  1. Pithukkuli Murugadas - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pithukuli_Murugadas
  2. Muruganar Swamigal was born CK Subramanian Iyer - https://swarajyamag.com/culture/muruganar-a-sage-and-a-tamil-poet-of-ancient-wisdom . Who would allow others call him Muruganar if he considered it inferior?
  3. There are several more. Many brahmin carnatic musicians sing songs on Murugan. Why would they if they don't like? Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer's son Maharajapuram Santhanam's rendition of "Muruganin marupeyar azhagu" in Behag ragam doesn't spare melting anyone's heart.

I need to mention that I am not even remotely interested in digging the caste of anyone, but accusations and narratives force people like me to do the caste finding. Brahmins did not think before melting for Murugan. Either the dravidianists and Tamil nationalists deliberately ignore seeing Tamil brahmin Murugan devotees or worse they peddle their fake narrative despite glaring evidences all over the real life in an attempt to overpower the truth by brute force. People who care for the truth must be very careful while consuming any narrative from these two groups.

Here is an enlightening article by Aravindan Neelakandan ji in Swarajya - https://swarajyamag.com/ideas/murugan-the-subrahmanyan-why-suki-sivam-has-got-his-spiritual-branding-of-the-deity-all-wrong
