Mookuthi Amman Criticisms and Rebuttal

RJ Balaji - Hmmm... We know what to expect from him. Don't we.

Mookuthi Amman. It was a fun, one time watch film at best. Actors have acted well. This is all that are good about the film.

The real face of the film didn't go unnoticed from my eyes. Here's my take on it.

  1. The antagonist Baba who is supposed to be an imitation of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji or Jaggi Vasudev ji, says to one of his devotees not to accept liver or kidney (I forgot which one) from his son for a life saving surgery. None of the real life Gurus have ever said anything like this to any of their devotees. This is a wild attempt to defame the great Gurus who have already done a lot of good things that RJ Balaji will never be able to do in his entire life time.
  2. The 'enna guarantee' trend is so stupid. Guarantees, even for the electronic gadgets, come with a lot of conditions and clauses. Medical insurances guaranteed to help you. But when Covid 19 hits en masse, the insurance companies backed out. What guarantee were they able to give? Will surgeons guarantee 100% success in surgery with no loss to the patients' life? Don't surgeons get signature from patients' close relatives that they don't guarantee anything? Why then do prohitars/Gurus who suggest and perform homams and parihararams have to give guarantee? The premise of Homams and pariharams are hope and faith, not guarantee. You got it all wrong, Mr. RJ Balaji.
  3. Another more stupid concept is Samiyars (in RJB's words) should not run e-commerce websites, should not sell anything, should not possess lands, should not build ashrams, should not be in politics, etc. Legally, Samiyars that RJB talks about are Indian citizens and they can do all occupations permitted by the State. RJB's claim that Samiyars must not do these things is based on outdated norms in the society where Samiyars go to Himalayas and do penance. Mohan C Lasarus, Jagath Casper and their likes are with politicians all the time. Times have changed, Mr. RJB. Wake up.
  4. The people leaving their homes and becoming sanyasis in ashrams thing - this is based on two sisters joining Jaggi Vasudev's ashram. The ashram has clarified several times that the sisters were not forced to join ashram at all. So, Balaji's claim of "Babas" "forcing" people to leave their homes to become a monk in ashrams is invalid and lame.
  5. Then the rant about man made Gods. This is a done and dusted topic, Mr. RJB. Yeah, we make Gods. Iyyanar, Body Guard Muneeswarar, all of them are man made Gods. We keep creating Gods. We respect our ancestors and elevate them to the status of Gods. What's your point?
  6. Fear factor - Babas are instilling fear in people and making them do pariharam it seems. Some do. No doubt. It's happening in all religions. What about Nikkah Halala? What about Bishobs sleeping with vulnerable girls who approach Church Fathers toseek forgiveness (paava mannippu) in Churches? Why only Hindu faith alone?
  7. Mookuthi Amman getting angry with Tirupati Venkatachalapathy? What nonsense? They are siblings. When will RJ Balaji, a culture illiterate, get this? No two Hindu Gods have been eternal enemies. You are probably trying to pull the village Tamil non Vedic Mookuthi Amman vs Vedic Tirupati Venkatachalapathy string. Unfortunately, some people will buy this too. But, the truth remains that the Hindu Gods have been appreciative of the other Gods. For thousands of years, we assigned relationships between them, got them married, and so on. I am sorry to disagree with you again RJB, but Mookuthi Amman is not furious with her brother at all. And no, She sure does not want a temple bigger than her brother's.

The liberal likes of RJ Balaji can have their liberties only with Hinduism. Once they are done criticizing Hinduism and finishing the religion off to extinction, they cannot have the freedom of expression they have now. They will be coerced to be "nice" to Islam and Christianity. Didn't Christians get the sarcastic comedy scene portraying a Christian pastor healing ailing people with a CD removed from the film?

My final verdict: Mookuthi Amman film is a typical Hindu sentiments hurting one with all its characteristic components.

Hindus are probably laughing at the jokes the film cracked on them and enjoying without even realizing that they are being laughed at. See the sharp difference in the awareness and assertion between Hindus and other faith people.

Hinduism. That poor goat got slaughtered again with the Mookuthi Amman film.
