Social media - very less ROI for mediocres and introverts

I am feeling very relieved after deactivating my twitter account and my quora account. I had already deleted my facebook a couple of years ago. This is likely to give me some time to spend on books, research, RSS, and everything that can be done offline.

The next milestone is drastically reducing my online time. I am going to buy DVD player so that I can listen to CDs instead of using youtube. I dusted my old tape recorder and heard Arathi album by KS Chitra ji and KJ Yesudas ji. Too nostalgic... and too good!

I am a passively active guy in politics. I am strong supporter of RW (whatever little exists). I am also a RSS member. I am a Free Hindu Temples activist. I have participated in almost all protests hosted by Hindu groups. I am an admin of a Hindu religion whatsapp group. I have actively persuaded people into joining Hindu causes and protests.

With this background, it's a very hard decision to come out of SM. But, I would recommend my friends to follow suit.

Here are my reasons

  1. I found that I have neither been very successful in influencing people nor been successful in getting followers, therefore the ROI (of time) is not very encouraging.
  2. I have not been very knowledgeable. I don't bring anything new to the table. There are 1000s like me. I am very redundant.
  3. One has chance at changing others who are fence sitters. Not the ones deeply rooted in their ideologies and rigid. My circle is either already of my ideology (Hindutva) or deeply left or dravidian. So my chance of making anyone vote for BJP is very narrow.

If you have similar reasons, then my unsolicited yet a genuine friendly advice is don't waste time in SM.

  • Get involved in real ground level politics.
  • Go to/attend RSS shaka.
  • Make yourself charismatic.
  • Inspire others.
  • Join as many people as possible into RSS.
  • Read as much history as possible.
  • Developing speaking and arbitration skill.
  • Get better in career. Earn more.
  • Be boastful (?) and proud of your Hindu identity and cultural identity (Like Sridhar Vembu ji)
  • Improve lives of Hindus around you.
  • Get some fresh air.
  • Get some life.

All the best my dear friends.
