        சிவபெருமானை நினைத்தால் எனக்கு உடனே நினைவுக்கு வரும் விஷயங்கள், திருவண்ணாமலை, ரமண மகரிஷி, எழுத்தாளர் பாலகுமாரன், இசைஞானி இளையராஜா, திருவாசகம், ஆத்ம ஞானம் ஆகியன. ஏதாவது ஆரம்பித்து "ததக்கா புதக்கா" (amateur) என்று எழுதித்தான் பார்ப்போமே.         எப்பொழுது நமக்கு (குறைந்தபட்சம் எனக்கு) இறைவன் தேவைப்படுகிறார்? சில நேரங்களில், "என்னடா பாலாஜி, நம்ம ஒன்னு நெனச்சா வேற ஏதோ எக்குத்தப்பா நடக்குதே ?" என்று தோன்றும். மனதில் அச்சம் தோன்றும், "உனக்கு உண்மைலையே திறம இருக்கா ? இல்ல நீ ஒரு வெத்துவேட்டா ?" என்று. இதைப்போன்ற தாழ்வு மனப்பான்மையும், அவமானங்களும், இயலாமைகளும் தான் நம்மை, "நம்மளோட அறிவுக்கும் சக்திக்கு அப்பால என்னமோ ஒன்னு இருக்குடா!!" என்று சிந்திக்கவும் வைக்கும்.          அதன் அடுத்த நிலை, தோல்விகளாக நம்மை வந்து தாக்கிக்கொண்டே இருக்கும்பொழுது, "எவ்வளோ நாள் தான் நானும் வருதப்பட்டுட்டே இருக்க முடியும்? சொதப்பறப்ப எல்லாம் வருத்தப்பட முடியுமா? வெற்றி, தோல்வி எது வந்தாலும், ...

Raleigh NC business visit

It's 11:54 pm as I start writing this post in Raleigh North Carolina USA. This was my last working day of this business trip. I will be catching my flight back to India tomorrow. Pondering about how this trip went and my over all experience, it turns out to be quite interesting. There are many aspects to it. All are worth reflecting. The flight journey from Chennai to Raleigh was quite horrible with 4 hours delay in Germany. Even without delays, there was a 6 hours of layover in Germany. So it's 10 hours layover in all. In Chennai I wished my dear ones to come and send me off in Chennai airport. They did. I would have appreciated someone picking me at Raleigh airport. That didn't happen. Nor did it happen during my previous visit last year. I managed alone with my English which is much difficult for people here to understand. Yet everything happened well. Room stunk, I suffocated. Brahmin devotees of the Tamil deity Murugan

Dravidianists and Tamil nationalists keep perpetrating the falsehood that Tamil brahmins don't worship  Lord Murugan. According to them, brahmins go to Murugan temple but they worship the deity as Subrahmanya or Skanda, the "sankrit-vedic" God, not the "Tamil kadavul" Murugan. It is not very unusual for them to make these bombastic claims but what bothers me the most is many people do buy their narrative. The narrative that tamil brahmins don't worship Murugan is so much against the facts that are staring at our face in our everyday life. One can see many Tamil brahmins saying "appane Muruga" like myself. One just need to have a keen sense of observation. That's all it takes.
